Entering a new phase...

We are experiencing the joy of a new phase in our lives. Eric is courting! We had the priviledge to have Rosie with us this past weekend. She fit into our family quickly. You will likely all be meeting her before long, but for now she is still living in Seattle. She is the thirteenth of seventeen kids; an efficient and hard worker; and loves to play games, laugh, and have a good time. We understand that this is in God's hands, but we are thrilled to have Rosie in our lives. -b

Thanks for sharing Becky. Anita told me on Sunday while we were over there, so I promptly called her brother Jxn (Jesse, married to Andrea Johnson) to see if she was from that family. I figured there was only one martin family in Seattle. I know a lot of her family from having lived there, but not her.
They look cute together!:) And how exciting for everyone! Is she moving out to MN soon?
Jxn said she is in college? What is she going for?

and it seems like just yesterday he was a pudgy-faced 6-month-old very impressed with his discovery that steam is hot. when i was babysitting, i'd boil a pot of water just to get him to say "hah" (before he could make the T sound) in an awestruck but emphatic whisper. Best wishes, my kummi poika, on this new phase in your life. just don't hurry it along as fast as everyone else seems to be (in their happiness/excitement for you, of course) - i'm not sure i'm ready for b & w to be grandparents or to think of myself as a great-aunt.

and that photo is the best argument thus far to keep this blog accessible to the general public - its a wonderful picture of a beautiful couple.

What a cute picture. It was fun to talk to Eric the other day as he is so excited. Told him that I can't wait to meet her. I was very tempted last weekend to drive down to meet her. Should have followed Brian and Denise back home to meet her before she left. Well, there will be time later =)
Eric, Shawn and I are so happy for you. I agree with Auntie Wiz though, take it slow.
Eric, did you find anything on the MN job bank?

Oh yeah,
I asked Eric what she does and he said she works in an alzheimer's home as a CNA. He didn't mention her going to school. Is she in college?

I keep looking at the wonderful picture and wondering how this all happens. Maturity creeps in when we aren't looking, new stages of life just sort of spring upon us. Then there is the, "Becky, are we really old enough for this new and exciting stage of life?". No offense intended here, but I really don't think I'm as old now as our parents were when we were young and courtin'. Funny how the older you get the younger everyone else looks and gets, from the aged to the incredibly young.

We are so very happy for you Eric & Rosie. Can't wait to meet you.

I will share these beutiful comments with Eric. Thanks for sharing in his happiness.

Rosie has been going to school while working at the group home. She has been taking general courses, but isn't set on a final plan. She has thought about nursing and about massage. When she moves here, she would like to get into a hospital.

someone asked if she is going to move here, when she came she was wanting to move right then :) Eric, Rosie, Shari, and I went to Mall of America together. we had so much fun, we went on a ride called timberland twister. it was tons of fun, she had been talking to Shari about getting an apartment with her, but they are unsure when that would be possible. i think its really cute that now after she has gone home susan, laura, sarah, and kathryn play house and pretend that they are Eric and Rosie and its there wedding day, of course the wedding takes placec in Seattle. -debbie
