Thinking of the days of long ago

Hey all you soupers!
I was looking through the email I got of the news headlines in the Mesabi Daily News and I see that Tony Jagunich has passed away. How many of you remember him? Nick's son. I thought of the memories I have of him at the Eveleth Spur and the stories that Doug would tell of him. Then I started thinking of Doug and the black and white floors in his house, his photo albums that he would show me whenever I went to visit him. Could never tell when he was joking or when he was telling the truth! But when thinking of Doug can't help but think of Frank too. The walking sticks - the lessons of life that he was so willing to teach - the smile - the wave - the visits at the bridge - the stearn talking when he saw me doing something wrong - the gentle hands...

The joys of the fond memories of those that we were surrounded by! But now I will put my rambling memories aside and hit the road. Working at the shelter this weekend and am looking forward to it.

Mom and Isa, when are you leaving for your travels?

Yowza!

I've read (okay, skimmed) some posts and comments...  and again, Yowza!

I'm not really sure why the picture was taken down.  I actually thought it looked pretty cool.  Would I consider it a family portrait?  Nope!  Was it cool?  heck yeah!  A 'fun' likeness that has us altogether.

Jen just made a comment to me, something that I agree would be kinda neat.  To have that picture on top of the blog, except...  keep changing it.  Her comment, was to turn her into an infant on mothers lap.  Next week, or next month?  Change her back, and change something else...  maybe some minor things with people, see if anyone can find them.  Glasses? not anymore...  Suit?  nope, blue jeans...  Kinda like that thing they have, or had, in the paper where you find the differences between two pictures.  Except here, the contents of the picture are a little better known, not just a random cartoony picture.

Oh, and the heading Kuoppalas?  I'd change it to Kuoppala's.  The Kuoppalas may not own it, but its still ours :-)

Grammar question

An 's at the end of Kuoppala would denote ownership, right? So do the Kuoppalas own this blogspot? Is it theirs and should there be an 's at the end or should it be without an appostrophe? I removed it because I thought it didn't belong there, but our last name does not end that way. Help!

To the photographer: if you have a photo without the lizard, send it along or change the picture. Otherwise, I could add all kinds of interesting ones ... change them once in a while and you'll never know what age you are that day until you pop onto the blog.

Sorry, Mom, I'm going to make your head spin and wonder if the computer is being attacked from Timbuktu. It will never be your computer ... it will be mine!

Gotham Writers' Workshop

Remember Makara?  She gave that as my password!   I'm scared silly!  I guess as it
starts on 2-24 we'll be at Frans and Jenny's for the first attempt at whatever. Perhaps
fear of the unknown is the worst.  dk

Is it just our computer

Has the Kuoppala Blog changed on your computer?  It is much different on ours an am
wondering if ours got changed when we had it in St. Cloud.  One thing I know changed
on ours was the desk top.  Before the items were just listed on a plain blue and now they are listed on the scene we picked out ages ago, water and mts.  Comments please,
has the Blog changed on your computer or just on ours?   dk

Got my back?

i just registered Mother up for a 10-week online writing class from Gotham in NYC, beginning Feb 24th, taught by my friend and writing teacher.  It'll be great!  She's already a terrific writer, but this class provides an opportunity to experiment with dialogue and other fun things.  It'll be super cool. But just in case i go missing, i thought i'd let you know who might be responsible for my demise : )

Can't wait to read your stuff, Mom!

What do you think?

Did it surprise you?

... waiting ... patiently waiting ....

What am I waiting for?

The computer room genie to come and clean it up.
The outside temp to rise above 2F this fine morning.
More sunshine ... the sun was setting at 5:45ish yesterday instead of 4:30 ... it is now light enough to drive home from work unaided by headlights.

A recipe for cheesecake. :)

No pressure Debbie. Whenever you have a chance. I've not worked off the last pieces yet.

Jenny

The changes

Jenny says that mom will never believe any of my pictures again.

Better?

this is for the people on Living the Alaska dream blog who thought that Davids sweater was to bright compared to the other people.

But there is still no one on here that has guessed what is wrong in this photo. Kendra seen it put show was wrong. The hint is Elizabeth.

Can you tell me what is wrong?

If you are the first to figure out what is wrong with this photo you "may" win a prize.

At the reception

Daniel thanking everyone for coming and inviting everyone to come and visit them in
Monticello.  Question by someone, "All at the same time?"  Denise was maid-of-honor,
visible on the bottom, left.   Someday perhaps we'll learn how to do many pictures in
one post.

family picture...

I can't believe how fast time has flown, and it is already almost here that we board the plane for MN!  Diane put in our newsletter that she told everyone that the Kuoppala family picture was going to be at 5:30...we are actually going to aim to have it be DONE by 5:30.  So please try to be at the church and ready to do it by about 5:10-5:15.  Hopefully everyone can make it at that time!  That way Michelle and Daniel have a little bit of time before the ceremony starts at 6:00 to relax a little.
Can't wait to see everyone!!!  (and I am hoping that it warms up a little bit for us!!!!)
