Mom

Mom. I was wrong again. We raised them 7 1/2 to 8 wks.
for broilers.

Wouldn't happen to remember how much feed per bird it was for the 8 weeks wouldja?

It's a lot. I know we raised them a couple years ago and I had to buy a lot of feed. Last time we only raised 50, but I would guess that it was at least 10 bags of food. I will be keeping track and can let you know. The trick we learned is that when the chickens get a little bigger, we have to shut the lights off at night. We didn't the last time and we lost too many of them. They eat too much, grow too fast, and die. A guy we know shuts the lights off at night and doesn't lose them like we did and they still grow good.

We did leave the lights on day and
night. If the lights happened to
go off, they piled up when they
were young and lost some that way.
Also lost some when the cat got in
there. Isä put a trap among the
dead chickens and caught the cat!
We raised them only 53 days. Seemed like the feed conversion went down after that period of time. Mom
