FRANS

I am not saying the forstie's are better communicators, BUT, everytime someone puts up a new posting, people make comments on it. This tells me one of possibly three things or so. Either the Kuoppala's do not give a rats about anybody else but themselves, or they do not have time to sit at the computer, or else they just don't know how to post comments! So, either we are computer illiterate or too busy to share our thoughts on your fellow brothers and sisters posts. So, the last option is we are just too conceited. The whole moral to the story is that you can comment on people's postings cuz that's where the communication comes in. we could just send these things in the mail to santa clause and get no response also. I hope no one is offended by my posting, if you are please make a comment underneath it. three points a piece for the first three comments on this post, only one comment per person on this posting to receive points. The points can be combined with Charlie's points!
Love you all, talk to you later

just putting in my two-cents for a point.

for me, its a time issue. i made the blog my home page so that i can see regularly if somebody has posted new - it takes more effort to read comments or to make a comment myself - but i'd argue that this is partly because the blog is fairly new development in kuoppala family communications - truth of the matter is that whether i'm commenting or not, i have been grinning about the photo of frans and the girls reading the newspaper at the breakfast table. perhaps, as weeks go by, i will feel the need to either come back to my computer for the sole purpose of replying to others' postings or feel free to steal a minute from my workday to respond in writing with the same things i'm only thinking now.

either way, i hope people can post for the sole purpose of sharing their news - and that if somebody comments, that's great - but if they don't, it doesn't mean the post wasn't read, isn't being thought about, or that everybody is too self-absorbed to communicate.

don't know that its worth two cents, but it is surely worth a point. -liz

Dood!! I certainly hope everyone dosn't comment on each post!! If they did, I'd never be able to read it all! Lessee here... 12 Alphabetzers with 8 SO's, and a few grandkids that leave messages.. I aint about to respond to 20 plus emails everyday :-P Do enough of that at work. Pssst and I'm not even gonna comment on Anitas post (hope that was her post) that her bakin made my mouth water... but I'm guessin she already knows it did ;-)

Heather's response - I realize that I'm late in responding and don't get points, but that is the consequence of not having the internet at home and working during the day which limits my ability to play on the internet. I have a really philosphical way of looking at things. My years of work in the field I have chosen have taught me a lot about communicating. The most important aspect of all communication is listening. Therefore, one should be most happy with knowing that others are reading the page and being listened to. I have worked with listening pairs and peer counseling. The idea behind both of these therapeutic tools is being listened to. My own personal opinion about getting comments under my posts is that others don't need to respond to my dog sledding or my Texas trip. When I wanted feedback, I posed a question. i.e. would anyone like to order chickens or what would you like the christmas theme to be. I believe that your children are cute, it's cute that they read the paper, Jenny's scrapbooking pages are cute, Anita's trip sounds like fun, I was sorry to hear that Wayne's aunt died, and the list goes on and on and on. Does this make one feel better reading responses of how the page is cute, the kids are cute, etc. The wedding pictures were cute, but being brutally honest, they look like pictures of anyone else that I don't know. To conclude this long drawn out comment, if one is willing to be negative about not getting comments on their posts, perhaps, they should look within and question why they need the comments rather than looking outword and claiming conceit.

Heather yet again during a time of slacking at work: I think that this family can use the comment sections to discuss ideas for birthday parties etc., but currently I don't know of any. I know we used the e-mail system a lot when we were planning the going away party and it worked a lot better than trying to call everyone, particularly since this doesn't cost anything and everyone can be informed at the same time. I really think that this site will be used that way also. The sad part is that we don't get together very often and there are no major events being planned currently. I put the idea out there to have a family get together. Is that more the concept you were looking for?
