Reindeer Poop

Being as the girls theme this year was "housetop" many people turned to the notion of Reindeer poop. Here's a poem Laurie wrote and handed out for Christmas:

Up on my rooftop
one cold, winter day
I saw some weird droppings
Yes...to my dismay

I thought to myself
"What on earth could there be...
up on my rooftop
mid-winter lets see...

I gazed and I pondered
at this pile of poo
Left on my rooftop
by someone...but who?

He wears a red suit
and laughs from his belly
on my rooftop this year
he left something smelly

I walked up real close
and saw with my eyes
the poop of his reindeer
was my little prize.

The smell was quite sweet
not like typical poo
because his reindeer are magic,
it's edible too!

It's poo with an essence
of quite a sweet smell
of something like popcorn
drizzled with caramel.

You'll never look at caramel popcorn the same
hope you still want to eat it
and don't think this is lame.

From up on my rooftop,
carmel corn from a scoop
hope you like it and eat it
here's your "REINDEER POOP".

What a creative bunch! I love the poem Laurie!

Do we have any theme ideas started for next year? Are you guys interested in doing something similar?

please no reindeer poo for a theme next time - i'm so sick from eating bowl fulls of it.

i vote for a theme related to "christmas past" so we can wrap up some favorite memories somehow and pass them around. -e

Here comes the rebel post. "Christmas past" sounds like a fun idea. Here comes another. Is anyone interested in replacing the current "family" gift exchange with something more like the girls do? Still exchange the A-J, but perhaps have a theme and the same price limit? Just looking for ideas.

I am for that, if the theme isn't too bizarre, and I have to stress about two theme gifts!! :) But, do you think the guys would want to participate?

Frans' thoughts: He would rather give up the name gift exchange, but if he were to choose between what we are doing now, or a theme/price limit gift, he would rather the theme.

I am all for whatever anyone wants to do. I like the theme, but we need ideas from people if we are going to do that. I talked to everyone last year about this same thing. So, let's make a decision and those that want to do it, do it, those that don't, don't. $5 limit? Do mother and Isa want to do it also? Should it still be by A-J or put in everyone's names, i.e. parents, in-laws, etc.?

I am in favor of eliminating the gift exchange as we know it and replacing it with a "theme" or "memory making" type of idea. We could even pick an easy theme that we ALL exchange with each other. For example, if the theme was recipes, we would send our favorite recipe to EVERYONE. That way the gift fosters our relationship with each other. Ornaments might be another idea. There are many inexpensive, but cute ornaments out there. We could send one to each household. ...I am anxious to hear thoughts from the rest of the alphabet. -b
