Hello, it's me again!
What is everyone doing for mines in the pines?? (is it mines or minds?) And what can I do? I am not very crafty, but would be fun to do something for it before it's too late. I would love to be there for it! Somebody will have to make sure they have their camera there, and snap some photos! Maybe even do a little videoing! We will be there at the end of May, but it is only for a week....that is way too short! :( It would be so much fun to come there for a few weeks in the summer. oh well....Maybe next year!
Diane, you haven't been on here in a while....are you busy getting ready for your trip? When do you leave? If you have time, could you tell me the recipe for that wild rice salad?
Last night, Alanys took 6 steps on her own....she did it a couple times! Anna, next time you see her, she probably won't even let you hold her...she'll want to be walking all over! Here is a picture of her from this morning in her first ponytail... it was a fight getting her to let me put it in!
Liz, are you still training for the marathon? There is a 40 mile walk for breast cancer in San Diego...sometime in the next few months. I was thinking it would be fun to go, but it is a three day ordeal, and I don't know how much you would have to train for that, or if I would have the time anymore.
more later....enjoy your day:)

I think she looks a lot like in
Lindsey in this picture. Gdma.
I was thinking the same thing as I was looking at them this morning!! as a matter of fact, I was going to write in my post that doesn't she look just like lindsey!
Jenny
Yep, i'm still training. i took a little bit of a break as i had two wisdom teeth extracted and wanted a little sympathy - but there's really no excuse anymore and the weather is perfect for taking my jogging outdoors.
Jenny, you might try out the Race for the Cure in October in Phoenix (http://www.komenphx.org/) - it is a 5K run/walk and a pretty laid-back affair - really a celebration for those who have survived breast cancer. I'm betting you could get (or maybe already are) in shape in no time for the 5K.
And for anyone else, they have these all over the country. Find one near you at www.komen.org

For the Mines (it is mines and not minds) and Pines, I'm going to make dishrags (knit), jars, cards, and signs. I think that's all. I will let the rest respond as to what they are making.

I have been slacking on the "Mines and Pines" marathon and don't think I will be ready for this year. I was going to do the painted umbrellas with the kids themes on them but the website that I was going to get them from do not carry them anymore. I have tried other stores but can not find the clear (smaller) ones that I wanted. Will keep trying.
Elizabeth...kuddos to you for your jogging efforts, wish I had the ambition.
Hey all, it is wood tick season...I had a hitchhiker in the shower this moring, do not know where I picked up the little bugger but Dave had to pull it out, it was embedded in my stomach. I have been feeling creepy crawlers all morning now! Yuk! Have a great weekend!
Jody
Hey Heather,
How much are you going to sell the knit rags for? I might have to place an order, and have maybe Anita bring them back! They are my favorite rags....They have them at the craft table every year at winter services, and this year I only bought two!
Liz, that 60 mile walk in san diego I was talking about....I just found out today that you have to raise $2000.00 to be able to walk, so I won't be doing that one!
I'll have to check out more about this race for the cure! I have been walking every day for about two weeks, and I can tell in my face that I may have lost a little, but pounds wise, I am still the same! I just got to stay away from the scale, so I don't get discouraged! It's frustrating!
More later:)
Jenny
Reino is making 6 maple leaf shape
clocks but a little smaller than the ones David and Elizabeth got
for Christmas. Also 2 Minnesotas.
The clocks are made but he is
waiting for the numbers, they have
been on back order for awhile. Hope they come in! Also 12 or so
of those things that spin in the
wind and they still need to be
painted but had to wait for
summer. A few Shepherd's Hooks
Few wind chimes are made. A few
rag rugs. Me, I'll try to make
6 placemats each of 2 Christmas
print. Found a pattern for table
runner or smaller hexagon for "
center. Will handsew placemats
on our trip. Mom
And me, well, I am not very craftsy, so will enjoy watching what you all make! Maybe I can be the sales department... I can carry signs around the grounds that direct people to our booth.
Jenny, Liz, and all potentially interested persons... lets join together and do the 60 mile breast cancer walk sometime. (They do it in Mpls too.) One of my co-workers has done it two years in a row now - once in Mpls and once in CA. Her mother (who used to be my boss)is a breast cancer surviver and her step-mom just died last summer of breast cancer. Her mother does the walk also. She brought me a CD of the walk... If you see it, you will decide to do it. Quite touching!
Jenny, that baby is a doll!

Becky, when is the one in Mpls? Do you have to raise money, and if so, how much? i would be interested:) Let me know!
Jenny
It is the same; $2000. The minimum contribution goes up every year. I don't remember off the top of my head, but the website should have it. Do you know without digging Liz?
Becky, Wayne said perhaps he could
make bird houses with the boys.
Have they started yet? mom
I'm selling my dishrags for $2.75 with the tax included. I'd love to say I'm in with all of you, but 60 miles sounds like a long distance to me. I can't imagine walking from my house to Cloquet and paying $2,000 to do it. That's just me. I wish the rest of you the best of luck. I may be interested in doing it some year, but not until I can at least bike to Brainerd from the range. Heather
