A little of this & a little of that

Well, life just moves right along. Last week, or the week before, I had commented somewhere that I had this VERY LONG list of things I was going to accomplish. I don't even remember what they were, but do remember not getting ANYTHING on the list done. Isn't it great that tomorrow is still another day?

A few pics from yard progress. Brock riding the dirtbike was taken after the pool came down and before Jari started scraping the yard with the "rental toy". The yard is still not completely done, but ... the grass is green, the mushrooms are growing, the vines are getting water, the tree has new green after the shock of planting ... things are moving slowly but surely!

Was showing Mom & Dad the latest and greatest thing I found. Learned about it from a visitor at the hospital one day. Works awesome. Suppose to take that nasty tar off the car when you are driving a freshly done road and there is no other way to get where you're going. Also, tho' I've not had the opportunity to try it yet, is supposedly great for cleaning bugs off windshields/grilles etc. I absolutely adore the fact that it takes all those dirty hand brown/black marks off the front of a nearly white microwave. It has that finish with cracks and grooves ... they collect everything they shouldn't. Anway .... it can be found in an auto parts store ... or I found it in the auto section at Walmart!

Was going to take a picture of the nastiest smelling paint remover cans today ... lo and behold ... someone actually took out the trash! The girls' bedroom floor is DONE!!! With the exception of filling tack strip holes, the paint is off the floor. Took a month I think. Used probably a hundred WIDE razor scraper blades (that is no joke ... the hundred are gone) and three cans of JASCO paint remover. (At least they weren't the gallon size!)

Yesterday was a day for chocolate. Should have had several bags in the house and had none. Call it a hormonal boohooing kind of day. (Excuse sounds good anyway!) Today was going to be a great one! Did Egyptian history with Brock this morning, worked on some math .. then headed for a writing workshop. Problem: today is not the 4th as I thought it was. It was a bit of a trek, we took several wrong turns, only to find we were about 24 hours early. Will try again tomorrow! Now I know that there is a JoAnn's in the same parking lot. That must be the reason I went today and couldn't have time to browse. I left my coupon at home. Tomorrow should be interesting as well!

Before I forget. For anyone who likes chocolate & coffee. I bought this at Costco. We make it with water and even I like it. Me who orders plain coffee at Starbucks. I seriously think I must quit going to Costco. That place is ridiculous ... I know why their carts are so big. Wish they had those little baskets you carry. Have gone to Walmart many times and refused to take a cart. If it doesn't fit in the carry basket, it isn't coming home with me. Then ... willpower goes out the window ... and I'm praying for an extra arm or two. Really, just how much toilet paper, bath soap, shampoo, dog food, window cleaner, ammonia etc. can you really fit in a carry basket anyway??

You all have a wonderful day!

Wow! The birds didn't eat all the
seed. Took a picture of seeded
area also showing rocks, bamboo
fence with climbers, etc. In our
photo album I left a space to add
a picture from exact location to
be taken in Feb. '07. The sprinklers are doing a fantastic job. Is the timer working now? dk

I have to go buy that crud cutter stuff today! My microwave and fridge are the two things in my kitchen that drive me absolutely nuts. They have been black with gunk in the cracks and grooves, since Frans was single and had all those guys living with him!! and I have tried just about everything, and nothing has worked!! Will let you know how it works for me.
I love before and after pictures! Frans is building me an entertainment center for the family room (it is just about done). The armoir that we have is just huge and useless....so I took some before pics, and can't wait till he's done to take some after pics! Will post them when it happens:)
When I go to costco, to try figure out my bill before I check out, I just figure ten bucks an item. So my bill yesterday should have been $120 because I had 12 things.....I was pleasantly surprised to have to only pay $103!!! Made me feel better about the trip! So I was feeling pretty good until we stopped at the food court for $4.50 worth of hot dogs and drinks, then to the optical department to spend $30 on contacts for me! Between that store and Target, a person could go seriously broke!
I better get off now, and wake up Lindsey and get her off to school:)
Have a good day all:)

You do remember the size of the seed bag in relation to the size of the grass area? I still have half a seed bag left. I put down more yesterday and covered with the rest of my mulch. Problem is that I wish the birds would eat systematically! They leave me clumps in one area and nothing in another. Too bad the mushrooms aren't edible ... could make plenty of soup. Could be a bit too much water???

The sprinklers are a "challenge". They blew apart last Sunday morning, got fixed and are leaking again. I don't know about this! I also need to remove a lot of rock and run the skinny lines under the plastic/rock. I think water pressure in the lines makes them pop up through the rock. Don't know what else it would be. Was a dirt bike once ... don't think that will be happening again.

I would say that my entertainment center is a bit on the large side as well. Should have a room twice as large to put it in with at least 10 foot ceilings. Can't wait to see pics of what you get when it is done Jenny!

my armoiris huge with a lot of wasted space. We are soon going to have a computer for the kids and internet only (mine, I am getting Frans', and Frans is getting a new one) so I wanted something that would fit the Tv monitor, a computer, my scrapbooks standing, not laying, books, DVD's, stereo and everything all in one spot. I have looked, and you can't find an entertainment center that will hold a computer and tv in one. So Frans decided to make one. I wanted something like the unit at Ikea, that has five cubbies across, and five down. The one wall in the family room that needs to be painted is where I want it to go, so Frans got his pencil and drew it out right on the wall. Then I came along with the pencil and filled in the spaces, down to the decorations! I will post some pictures to kind of show you! Can't wait till it's done!
I love the mushroom:)

Mushrooms may be because of excess
water. From excess water we got
slugs! Yes, the seed bag was
rather large!! dk
