Lindula's

Hello everyone!

Yesterday there were several fires started along the railroad tracks. On 7 and 101 the Mesabi Daily News reported "Using water bombers, engines and brush trucks, firefighters battled an 80-acre wildfire for more than five hours that threatened homes near West Eveleth Tuesday.". They say they aren't sure what started the fire and it is under investigation.

On Keenan Road the biker's almost lost their clubhouse as the fire was there also. Thay have a plastic shield (sort of like the thing we used for the Mines and Pines) and the plastic on it melted. The other buildings were saved, but the fire got very close.

Shawn said there were 4 fires that started along the tracks, so I'm not sure where the others were.

We need RAIN!!!

Boy if that doesn't bring backs memories of all the set fires back
when Isä was on the dept. Fire Dept. members were told to be on the lookout for unknown vehicles,
especially the color of roof. One
car was spotted setting a fire on
7 in Zim. He was arrested when he
stepped out of his vehicle in Cotton. He asked how did you know.
Sheriff pointed to the plane above.

Scary business. Sounds like a few too many to be "accidental". Hope they catch the culprit(s).

yeah, that is quite scary!! The first thing I thought is that it wasn't accidental!

My thoughts immediately went back to that time dk referred to. Wasn't Isa on a trip East during those fires?

I didn't realize it is still so dry up there. We have been getting lots of rain now. I think even above the average. Our lawn is ready to be cut and bailed. It is growing enough to make up for the month of July when it went dormant. We had a slow steady sprinkle all day again today.

I planted grass seed a few weeks ago and we haven't gotten even a light sprinkle of rain. It is so dry up here. The other night it rained pretty good, but totally missed our house. That's what it has been like most of the summer. It would rain on HWY 37 and miss our house. So, does this mean we are going to have a lot of snow?

Yes, he was in Detroit one of the
times the fires were being set.
One fire set that weekend was at
the end of Keenan and whatever
that road is that becomes Spirit
Lake Rd. on the other side of 37.
