College.

Well, It's the time to start looking.
I was thinking DCTC to be an RN,
and doing that for a few years, and
then after a few years, go to UMD, or
NDSU to be a pediatrician. :)
I don't know how to apply for a Votec school, though.
any suggestions?

Well, H-E-L-L-O, Ms. Amanda Marie! I'm sure Elizabeth would have ideas, but I will answer since she hasn't yet. :) You can either go there in person and meet with some one in admissions, or you can do it online. If you want to use the computer, just go to www.mnscu.edu. While at that site you can learn about the school and download an application. There is actually a check list with the application of everything that is required for you to do. Hope that helps! That's awesome that you have narrowed it down to what you want to do!

Keep all of us posted on how its going in your life!

I looked up the college - is DCTC (Dakota County Technical College?) If so, they don't appear to have the RN program but have the nursing assistant and LPN program. Here's what their website says:

1. Attend Tuesday campus visit (held every Tuesday at 12:45PM) If you can't do that, schedule a one-on-one appointment by contacting an advisor at admissions@dctc.edu

2. Complete and submit an application

3. Pay a one-time nonrefundable fee of $20

4. Complete and submit an immunization form

5. Take the ACCUPLACER test

6. Have HS diploma

7. Submit high school transcripts

Contact Admissions and they walk you through the process. You can call them at 651-423-8302 or e-mail them at admissions@dctc.edu Try to get in to meet with them if you can. Face to face might be best to answer any questions you have and for them to help you out. Advisors know the system and how to help someone get enrolled in college.

Let me know if you need any help with any of this!

Amanda:
Tanner is going to DCTC right now as an elective selection for his senior year (Graphic Design)and he really likes the school and his instructors. Great career choice (nursing)! I strongly recommend a vo-tech to start with, you can eliminate your general classes and get straight to the heart of your career choice. Mankato has a vo-tech as well that has nursing classes and I hear they are cheaper, have not checked in to the finances yet so am not sure if that is true or not. DCTC is closer to home if you are going to commute.
Good luck!
