Busy in Brainerd

This Kuoppala Blog is so quiet. I'd like to know what everyone is doing. We are busy in
Brainerd. Your father has started scrapbooking his life and he is doing an absolutely
fantastic job. His penmanship isn't the best so he is typing his comments under pictures,
etc. Uses copy machine in the office to shrink articles, reports, etc.

We purchased a new Singer sewing machine. My old Necchi was not doing a good sewing
job anymore. I still use the old Singer and will use that for carpet rags when the weather
gets warmer so rugs can be woven in the garage. Have to make 3 graduation quilts for
spring '09 so am sewing top No. 1 now. It takes awhile to sew and then the quilting will take
longer! I'm using the new machine for this sewing. Didn't think this old brain would learn
the new machine's threading, etc., but I got it.

Minnesota has been an icebox lately. I think it was -35 in Embarras this morning. Should
warm up this weekend. Hope this finds everyone healthy and happy. dk

I would love to comment on the blog, but there just really isn't anything new with me. Went to the Range last weekend and played games with Heather. Last night I ran to Cokato to pick something up for Machelle and I got a wonderful cranial message. Besides that same ol, same ol. I am looking at this regularly, though, to see if anyone has anything happening in their lives.

Not much going on around here either, besides the same old, same old, that has got to get very boring for the rest of you to hear about:
Still working and trying to change things at work. One more meeting in St. Paul and I will finally be done with that craziness :)
Taking care of animals - 1 goat is very pregnant but no kids as of yet. Hopefully it doesn't happen until it warms up. Chickens laying eggs and we are trying to get some more as we have someone who can sell all of the eggs we can get.
Working on Julie's land - the sheds are down and the house is almost down - burning fires at our house every night so the house and sheds will only be a little ashpile by the time we are done with it. Then, will have to get some land cleared, pasture it in the summer, and move some animals on there. A lot of work, but will be great to have more land.
We've had a lot of company - seems like someone is over almost every night of the week. Gary is over a lot - working on plans for his house - very exciting stuff there.
That's it from our end!

Something new always going on here,....ummm....T is growing by leaps and bounds and learning tons....he speaks very well and loves reading books and matchbox cars!! He loves calling Shelby in for the evening, "selby....come." He still calls for Max, but he passed away three nights ago. Very difficult, but we are dealing. Same thing as with lady, everyday driving home is hard...used to see him prancing down the driveway, now nothing. Sad, but we'll make it through. Running the sled dogs tues and thurs about 4-6 miles each run...trying to get out on the weekends to run them longer and with the sled instead of the 4 wheeler. Will be going out tomorrow with the boys that are visiting for about 14 miles out to Rice lake and back up in Britt. Going to the Beargrease on Sunday. And then the weekend after, running the dogs up at the Outward Bound base camp. They may be taking the sled dogs for me....we'll see though. Other than that, working, eating, sleeping, chopping wood and filling woodstove. Haha! Miss you all. Love, Laurie & T : )

Sorry to hear about Max. Any idea
what caused his death? How is
Shelby adjusting to Max being gone?
I've wondered how the heat is going
at 8826 Keenan but haven't called.

We think the person who called you is the one who asked us to get her
a red print Bible in Finnish but they don't do that in the Finnish.

Heather, how did the goat recover
from being tangled in the rope,
twine, whatever was the cause of
all the cuts?

I guess it's same ol, same ol here
also. Pa scrap booking, me sewing
quilt pieces together. Not to the
quilting stage yet. dk

Congratulations on the new sewing machine and on the scrapbooking project. I am anxious to see the results of both.

Mom,
the goat was recovering, but now has a sore on the back of her. I put hyrdogen peroxide on it to clean it out 2x/day and then put some medication on it. Hopefully she heals up. She is still limping, but can walk on her front leg now. Still have to keep her locked up as the cattle lick her to death when she is out and she can't really run away from them too well. She's lost a lot of weight, so worried that she may have worms, so dewormed her yesterday. Overall, just trying to take our time with the whole healing process and really hope that she makes a full recovery.

Heather, can you use egg cartons - the 18 ct size? We would gladly save ours for you. It would make me smile to not throw them away.

We can use them, but prefer the 12 count ones. I just ordered 300 12 count cartons, but it wouldn't hurt to have 18s on hand either.
