Life on one part of Da' Range

Here's a little bit about my life in word and pictures. (I love being able to say that)
Saturday, Hazel Johnson called to see if we would be having church on Sunday. It was supposed to be at Walter's and they would come and visit, so I changed it to my house and I would have lunch. We had a nice visit with them as well as Walter, Sylvia, and Randy.

Michelle called Saturday evening to see if we would be home as she, Denise, Justin, and Andy were going to Stony for her to work in the kitchen and then they would come to the range. Laurie, Tristan, Randy, and Jen as well as the 4 listed above were able to enjoy a Poor Gary's Pizza dinner.

Being as we couldn't make it to her graduation party, we got her a cake to celebrate...

All of them stay up way to late for me. We were playing fast scrabble until I finally had to go to bed at 1:30. I did promise them that I would wake them up, so was promptly banging on the door to wake up the guys and had the girls awake before I left for work. Jen went back to the house shortly after and everyone was sleeping again. They did make it to the Island for breakfast (Jen and I were doing a training there).
Tuesday evening, we had Shawn's relatives over for dinner. His aunt and uncle - Kenny and Ellen are visiting from Washington. We had Teresa and Randy over as well...

It's been a very busy summer with visitors, but I'm not complaining. This weekend we have the Arola family reunion on Saturday and then I'm hoping we are heading out on a mini vacation for our 5th anniversary. We'll see.... If I do get to go, you will all know about it =)

Happy Anniversary Heather and
Shawn. Don't have any cards in my
stash as was going to get one in the mail today. Sending these
wishes now so perhaps you'll see
them at work tomorrow.

Fun seeing the pictures. Was Justin embarrassed to have me on
the phone? dk

Mom,
Yes, I do think Justin may have been embarrassed, but handled it well.

Happy Anniversary from our corner as well:) I hope you are able to do something special.

We had an awesome time with Justin and Andy. I must get attached to people too quickly, because it was a bit sad for me saying goodbye today. Can't imagine what it is like for Michelle! She will be flying to Longview a week before Eric and Rosie's wedding. Knowing that helps.

It's great to see pictures from there Heather. Enjoying your camera?

I will post some more soon. In addition to Justin and Andy, we have had a couple Finn girls here this week along with a few others here and there. At this point in our lives, we have the thrill of big kids randomly bringing friends over. I am learning the art of stretching whatever might be in the pot for supper or finding extra blankets and pillows, but I am not complaining. Having these extensions of our family is a huge blessing! ...Not much time for sleep with lots of activity, but I will trade sleep for great company. There will come a day when there is lots of time to sleep and we will wish for all the action. For now, I will enjoy every moment:)

Yes, this is the time of life for
us to sleep. But then I don't know
what makes that impossible and wake
up at all hours of the night. Your
father can still sleep them through. We rarely have children bring friends over or even have children come over so we are in a sad phase of life but we recall a happier time. Just this morning I was
lying awake thinking that too bad
I can't change my personality and
bring the family net closer but I'm
me and don't know how to change
things. Just recall a happier past. Time will come all too soon
that I won't remember the present
anyway. Some things are even
difficult to remember now! Where
did I put this or that!
We are getting together with the
Seniors this Thursday at Finn Creek
near New York Mills. Next week
Thursday we are using a Christmas
gift ctf. of a lunch cruise on the
Mississippi Belle. I passed the
word and several other couples will
join us. Then there are showers
and weddings coming up to look
forward to. Even a tenting trip
West!! dk

Mom,
I would love to come and visit both of you. When you are sad and think about how your children don't come to visit and you remember times gone by, remember what life was like, how busy it was, how you wished you could go somewhere but work, home, church, extra things got in the way of time. The greatest ambitions, desires, wants, and wishes, tend to be set aside for the neccessities and the here and now. Think of how you wished this wasn't the case when you were raising your family. How you wanted to go to on trips with your husband, but someone had to stay home and do the chores. Think about how your siblings probably wanted you to come and see them and you really wanted to, but life just got in the way. Then, transfer this to the stages of life your children are now in and reflect on: is it really a need to pull the net closer together or is it just that life happens, life is busy, and its not a lack of desire, its just too short of days (24 hours wasn't enough many years ago and it hasn't seemed to gain even an extra minute). I know from this wayward child that it isn't a lack of desire to see everyone, its more a focus of just trying to get my own stuff done. We have to put aside wishes to go places in order to just get through what we need to do each day. We love you more than you will ever know and just remember that when you're feeling sad.

I agree Heather! I hope my children will remind me of these things when I am lonely and wishing for more action.
