christmas is coming..!

Hello everyone! This blog sure has been quiet lately, but I guess I am just as guilty as the next guy! I can't believe Christmas will be here in 3 days! It just doesn't seem real, for some reason this year, it does not feel like Christmas yet! I planned to spend today grocery shopping this morning, and baking this afternoon, but ended up doing nothing! Lindsey is sick with Strep throat, so didn't want to start hauling her (and all the other kids) around, and I don't have all the ingredients to do my baking....so that hasn't happened either! Oh well...at least I am getting some cleaning done:) I think I am pretty much ready as far as gift buying/wrapping goes, how is everone else doing?
This last few weeks have been busy busy busy!!! Here are a few pictures to show what we have been doing....I have not taken very many, and I lost the card that has pictures of us setting up the tree and decorating....so that's a bummer! I hope it shows up here one of these days!
We started off the month by celebrating Toni's 5th birthday....is she 5 already!!?!?! Trina must have thought that this was her party or something....she was not happy!
This was our 2nd year going to the Light parade....We didn't enjoy it as much as we did last year, because we were in such a crowded area, and were about 4 rows back...but the kids still had fun I think...Trina at the light parade....Had to be held, otherwise she was off and running, and I was constantly chasing after her! Little rascal! We set up our tree/decorations the Saturday after Thanksgiving....Trina is always trying to sneak an ornament off of it!
I love all the christmas decorations! There was a Christmas program at the church where the 'choir' sang, and Phil Huhta wrote a Christmas story. I love this program, and it seems it gets better every year! Frans was one of the singers. Lindsey also had several lines in the story that she read, it was really cute.
Our sunday school program was last night at the church....here is our little (and growing) family!
Toni was so excited to be an angel....I was so busy videoing when her class was up, that I didn't get a picture of her singing...(This is for you Jari).

Kierstyn, Lindsey and Toni all ready for the program to start...

Kierstyn saying her piece...she was the loudest singer in her class! (last year she was too....not nervous at all!)

Lindsey (with cousin Shaya) saying her piece. she wasn't nervous at all either....these girls definately take after their father!

We hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season!!

Merry Christmas!!

Fun to see the pictures.

I must admit, that it doesn't feel like Christmas and we aren't doing much with Christmas this year. I baked some choc. chip cookies this weekend, but that is the extent of the baking thus far. May have to try and whip up some stuff tonight. Was thinking of decorating, but emptied out "Babies room" last night as Shawn is going to start working on it. He was hoping to have it done by Christmas, but that would be a bit strange. Hoping he has it done prior to the shower in January. I would love to have it all done and everything put away. I think it is different for us this year as we are trying to get so many different things done prior to baby coming as it will be very different to add a car seat and try to bring baby around to get things done.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. (My cards were mailed this morning.... if you don't get it before Christmas, just know we were thinking of you, just didn't get them out on time :) )

Fun to see all the pictures. Kids
change so fast. Biggest surprise
was to get the card from Alaska.
The Marjanen girls have really
changed in looks.

We did our Santa run south yesterday, starting in Duluth where
I had my sutures removed. Got to every home but didn't see Missi,
David, Jody, Tanner, Charlie, Wayne, Becky, Michelle, Steven or
John. Fred Kako came back with us.
Well, didn't see Eric, Rosella, or
Abigail but we didn't go to their
place.

Am glad we didn't go Saturday as
planned as driving would have been
nasty. Saw signs along the way where vehicles had been in the
ditch.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas. dk

Love the pictures Frans and Jenny!!! Very cute!!! The kids are gorwing up way to fast. You need to plan a trip to Minnesota so you can have #6 (smiles)!
Sorry we missed you Diane and Reino...Tanner was in the shower when you arrived and was bummed that he missed you. We had a gift for you that they were suppose to hand off but I guess Mitchell forgot until after you left. I tried to retrieve your cell phone number from Charlie but could not reach anyone by phone so we will mail off to you.
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Frans was just telling me last night why it doesn't really feel like Christmas to him. Christmas to him is being home with family. So far in the last two weeks we have been to our family's adult party, the christmas musical program, a johnson adult party, to zoo lights, the sunday school program, last night was the forstie christmas party, today is church, then tonight everyone is coming over for christmas eve. Feels like it's gone by in a whirlwind! It is a lot of running, but it's what I'm used to. Tomorrow we are skipping going to my mom and dad's and are just going to enjoy the day at home with our kids and have our own ham dinner. should be nice and relaxing! I told him that maybe we should move to a small congregation where there isn't any family, then maybe we wouldn't have so much to do at christmas time, but it doesn't sound like you are any less busy there in AK!!
Merry Christams to everyone!!!

A question: In the AZ pictures, I
didn't make that turkey egg
decoration did I? Don't remember
putting in a Santa so perhaps not.
We went to Elk River Christmas Eve
and then to Randalls. Listened to
singing (I can't sing), boys read
the Christmas gospel, children
opened their exchange gifts and then Wayne and Becky opened gifts
made by Susan, Laura, Sarah and
Katheryn with Debbie's assistance.
She made cds, 2 for each parent.
Really a tear jerker. They sang
and Sarah and Kathryn can't even
read yet so they had to memorize!
Some solos. What mom means to me,
what dad means to me. They'll
listen to them often as I do the
one received from AZ several years
ago. Got home at 2 a.m. Then in
the morning to Lindulas. Randy,
Laurie and Tristan were also there.
Good food, opened gifts. Good driving both days, beautiful sunshine which seems to be missing
today. Wishing you all a Happy
New Year. Pray things look up for
the nation in 2009. dk
