here is #2

We spent our 44th anniversary at a Grandparents' Day in Randolph. There were a lot of activities. Here Cole is participating in one of them.
Jade with her 4th Grade class doing the recorder song. Turn the world around.
Pansies in or window box

Grandpa made a reel for hose so we can get water to our garden before the lawn watering system is turned on.Grandpa made 4 bluebird houses. The one on the right is occupied.44 years doesn't seem so much until you see it in flowers! This is from Charlie and Jen. It is beautiful. I had to joke about the red and white. You can see we've had some good years and perhaps some not as good!

-grandma does this look okay?

Am I missing something? What does the red and white have to do with good and not so good? Are there certain rules about the color of carnations as there are with roses?

Not that I know of. It just came to mind that the red was bright and
perhaps that was the good years and
the white was not so bright or not
so good years. That was just my own thought. There were some not
so good years with layoffs, etc.
Pauline Leppamaki read "And Then
There Were Ten" and she said she
didn't realize we had it so tough
at times. dk

Mom,

Jen just read this to me, asking if I knew of any significance of colored carnations... At first, I didn't. But, if you stop and think about it....

The white carnations... White, pure, pristine... Are for the best years of life.

The red carnations... Those are the years that really stand out! And you thought the white, pure, pristine years were best? Nope... the red just topped them :-)

Oh, that was Charlie by the way =)

Another comment from dk. If the
flowers would have been all one
color, be it red or white, it would
not have been as beautiful as the
combination. And here I was thinking of the red as the good
years and white the perhaps not the
best years but regardless as a
whole, they have all been 44 wonderful years.
