Charlie & Machelles hopeful venture

Still working on it, but Machelle and I are hoping to start doing a lil gig from home. We'll see how it goes. Its image carving, using a cnc router, which carves photo's into wood. Here's a sample... (if I remember how to put pictures in)

Gotta get workin, ya'll have a great day!

Posted at 5:32 a.m. Do you sleep?
Wow, another artist in the family.
No problem telling who they are.
Seems you are putting in long enough days, where are you going to
fit this in? Might be fun and
relaxation so you have to find time
for that also. Then there is the
bike! dk

Depending on whats happening that particular week, I'm up as early as 3:00 a.m. 5:32 isn't that early. :-)

I just re-did that carving, using a different stain... That one is stained with "Red Oak", the newest is "Dark Walnut". Pics are at www.commandotrailers.com/justsomepics.html

This is super neat! What size is the finished product? Can you do different size pieces? What kind photo do you need to do this with? I can certainly send you something to practice on. Would love to see them firsthand.

If I ever actually get everything figured out, we'll be "marketing" 3 different sizes. 6 x 8, approx. 8 x 10, and approx 11 x 14.

The two that I have posted, are 6 x 8.

The higher quality photo the better, I have to run it through a couple of different programs, and it looks like it looses some quality each time.

I'm doing my first 11 x 14 right now... Router has been working on it, humming away, for almost 7 hours now, I'm guessing it'll be over 10 hours before its done... Thats the only bad part, my learning curve is taking longer than I expected, because it takes so long for the carvings to finish, and its not like I have an over abundance of time to begin with. The two I have posted, took about 4 hours each. (not that I'm sitting at it watching and tapping my feet waiting though)

The photo editing is the most time consuming, but I'm learning... slowly but surely!

Charlie,

Layers, Channels and Paths is the palette you'd want to open in the GIMP software..... I think... : )
I'll research more...and see what I can find to help you.

Interesting and beautiful! I would love to see the real thing, rather than just blog photos.
