Pictures from Brainerd

Picture #1 is our greenhouse in the garage.  Has grow lights and regular bulbs for heat
controlled with a thermostat.  One bulb visible on the left.  One squash, 4 bell peppers,
and 4 mini bell peppers plus 4 different varieties of tomatoes.  Will plant outside when
danger of frost is over.  The garden already has one row of early red potatoes and one
row of Superior white potatoes and one row of bush beans, 3/4 row of beets, some
carrots and a small amount of lettuce, some Swiss chard, some cukes and some giant
sunflower already planted.  Another area has some sick looking asparagus, couple of
rhubarb plants and Polano raspberries.

The next picture was taken in the bathroom to show the other side of bouquet in the
mirror.  Ten red roses for our 10 children and 46 daisies for 46 years of marriage and
both are celebrated on Sunday, May 9th.  Isä will bring them to the hospital on Wed. as
no use leaving them in the car on Tuesday until I get transferred to my room.  Surgery is
scheduled for 11:30 unless they come up with a different time on Monday when they
call.

I am rather envious of your garden right now. :) They look wonderful! I moved my measly starts out to the greenhouse today. I think it's probably okay at night in there. Might be chilly, but can't be frosted. Today it was warmer in there than in the mud room.

Beautiful flowers ... good job Isa!

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

My friends are always amazed and inspired by my stories about you - how you've taken up blogging and facebooking and you/Isa have already visited all 50 capitols and you keep doing the newsletter and you've written those two books and took the writing class and finnish language class and written crossword puzzle books and taken up painting and quilting and camping and you pick out special gifts for each of the grandkids, and most of this after retiring! (we won't even start the pre-retirment list, tho at some point i want to calculate how many loaves of bread you've made and how many loads of laundry you've done) There's no slowing you down - its no wonder you might need to replace a hinge by now.

Somebody said recently "All people die, but not everyone lives" - thanks for showing us kids how to live.

Happy Mother's Day! Happy Anniversary! Happy new knee!

Happy Mother's Day to all the other moms too and moms-to-be and moms-not-to-be and dads-who-act-like-moms-when-there's-work-to-be-done-or-when-kids-need-hugs and little girls who dream of being moms and take great care of your dolls and your dreams. Happy Mother's Day to us all.

Thank you Elizabeth for that long
comment. I printed it out and will
save it with the copies I printed of my writing for the Gotham Writers Workshop. Only wish I would have thought of printing
everything I wrote. Didn't think of printing until later on. Would
like to have the story going from
present to past where I start out in Hawai'i about our 50th capitol,
and say "Aloha". Then relate the
AK trip, the east coast trip getting 11 capitols. I do remember I said "I suppose we could go back to Florida as we were using a film camera then and didn't realize until we got home that we had gotten 'the leaning tower of Tallahassee'.
